Hold Your Breath

Man appears to meditate underwater. He is a free diver, holding his breath.
Rijeka, Croatia
Croatian freediver Vitomir Maricic, 40, relaxes underwater during a training session. Maricic went beyond what seemed possible for a human body by holding his breath for an astonishing 29 minutes and three seconds under water.

is this a "humans can absorb oxygen through their butt" thing?

I think there is some new resarch, showing some people can get a lot of oxygen from the gut. I imagine there are some gut bacteria which deliver more than others. Some people are built differently, fun fact about me, I have at least an extra foot of large intestine, and a spleen which, apparently stores a lot of red blood cells. My crit never drops below 45. I cold be a candidate for free diving, but I'd need weights. My bones are very light too. I don't know what genetic traits this guy has, but extreme calm has to be one of them.
